‘NiQuitin’ means Quit Smoking
KUALA LUMPUR – GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Sdn Bhd (GSK), the global leader in Nicotine Replacement Therapy, has introduced its brand NiQuitin to Malaysia. NiQuitin, a nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) available in patch and lozenge formats, is an over-the-counter product designed to help smokers quit smoking.
The inaugural launch event was officiated by Dr Zainal Ariffin Omar, Deputy Director of Disease Control, Non-Communicable Disease of the Disease Control Division, Ministry of Health. The launch event was also attended by Datin Dr Hjh Aziah Ahmad Mahayiddin, President, Initiative of Malaysian Health Professionals’ Alliance on Cessation of Tobacco (IMPACT) and Akhil Chandra, Vice President and General Manager, South Asia, GSK Consumer Healthcare International.
Through the launch of NiQuitin in Malaysia, GSK can now offer smokers a proven aid that helps them quit the smoking habit thus allowing them to do more, feel better and live longer, in line with its corporate mission.
In line with the Government’s public health objective of making Malaysia a smoke-free nation, GSK supports the Ministry of Health’s “Tak Nak” campaign to educate smokers on how they can increase their chances to quit smoking. GSK also partners other NGOs such as IMPACT, which are committed to the same cause.
