The National Heart Institute (IJN) receives the Star Sterling Service Award

The National Heart Institute (IJN) has received the inaugural Star Sterling Service Award for excellent service, not only to its clinical patients but also to the wider public through its corporate and social responsibility activities.

The award, an initiative of the Star Media Group and supported by the Star Foundation, recognises public service sector organisations that promote professionalism and visibility of the public service sector, implement new innovations in governance, adopt technological approaches, and enhance the image of the public service sector.

IJN chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohd AzhariYakub said the award given by a media group with media editors and the public as judges was indeed a great honour for IJN and coincided well with the 25th anniversary of the institute.

"It reflects very well what we intend to do at IJN. It's an added honour for the services we have rendered to the public, which we feel is world-class, as well as the innovations and the new procedures that we have introduced at an affordable rate for people from all walks of life.

"And, now, we have gone beyond Malaysia and are attracting foreign patients to IJN through medical tourism. I think this is a great tribute to our services and achievements over the years by the public and the media," he said.
