Six pupils from four primary schools in Pasir Gudang, Johor, were recently found to be suffering from suspected influenza.
Johor director of education Shaharudin Sharif, when contacted, confirmed the matter, saying all the pupils were found to have prolonged fever and other influenza-related symptoms.
"I was informed by the schools. However, I have not yet obtained detailed information on the condition of the pupils," he said.
The pupils had been told to stay home to prevent the spread of the disease and the management of the schools had taken the appropriate measures.
Shaharudin named the affected schools as Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Taman Bukit Dahlia, Sekolah Jenis KebangsaanCina (SJKC) Chien Chi, SJKCMasai and SK Taman Scientex.
