Get regular check-ups even if you are active and fit


Even fit and active individuals should undergo regular health checks to detect any risk of harmful diseases, according to National Heart Institute (IJN) Corporate Communications senior manager Aina Jamil.

She said the health screenings could help them make changes to their lifestyle and dietary habits as a precautionary measure to avoid chronic diseases such heart and kidney disease.

"Active individuals such as sports athletes need to undergo regular health checks and fitness tests in preparation for any game or sports events.

While athletes are usually more fit than the rest of us, some of them may still have underlying heart issues or other conditions that can otherwise go unnoticed. These are those who are at risk of serious injury or complications if they exert themselves too much," she said.

Aina said actors were briefed on proper healthcare and had their blood pressure, blood sugar and X-Ray tests done.
