The Terengganu Health Department recently raided a premises in Kampung Losong here, where three women in their 20s carried out an illegal dental brace fitting service.
State Health Department director Dr Mohammad Omar however said in the 3.30 pm raid only two of the women were in the premises, while the other one managed to escape.
There were 17 customers, aged between 16 and 20, waiting for their turn to get the service and for follow-up treatment in the premises during the raid, he told reporters after the raid.
Dr Mohammad said prior to this, the department had carried out initial investigation on the movement of the three women, who hail from Kuala Lumpur, and had also raided their operation centre in Kemaman district, but they managed to escape.
"We have been following their activities and this time around we managed to arrest two of them. They were found to have been offering a mobile brace fitting service from one location to another and promoting it through social media such as Facebook, as well as WhatsApp and Wechat applications,” he said.
