Malaysia has recorded 16,117 new Covid-19 cases, the Health Ministry announced on Tuesday (July 27).
This takes the country’s total confirmed cases to 1,044,071.
Selangor remains top out of all states with 6,616 new cases.
Kuala Lumpur is second highest with 2,457 new infections, followed by Kedah with 1,000.
Covid-19 cases in other states are as follows: Johor (907 cases), Sabah (741), Melaka (674), Negri Sembilan (669), Penang (618), Kelantan (592), Perak (583), Sarawak (405), Pahang (403), Terengganu (317), Putrajaya (122), Labuan (11) and Perlis (two).
Of the 16,117 new cases, 26 are imported infections, while the rest are local transmissions.
The total active cases have now risen to 170,224.
Of that, 1,023 are in intensive care units (ICU) with 524 on ventilator support.
Malaysia also reported 207 new Covid-19 deaths, which is equal to the country’s daily record for fatalities.
The national Covid-19 death toll is now 8,408.
In the same 24-hour span, 11,526 patients were discharged from treatment.
