Sunway Group is planning to build a tertiary medical centre in Seberang Jaya, Penang.
The estimated cost of the hospital is RM500 million. Once completed, it will accommodate 350 beds.
Dato Jeffrey Ng, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway REIT and Exco Member of Sunway Group, said that the project is divided into two phases. The first of the two-phase project, made up of a 180-bed development, is targeted to commence construction in the second quarter of this year.
"Upon completion of Phase 1 in the first quarter of 2021, we are confident that the medical centre will provide high-quality healthcare services, catering to other states in the northern region such as Perak, Kedah and Perlis," he said.
He said the hospital will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities, and supported by more than 800 medical and non-medical professionals.
