The Permaisuri of Johor, Raja Zarith SofiahA lmarhum Sultan Idris Shah recently launched the Tunku Laksamana Johor Foundation Oncology Centre at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Centre (SFSC) in Muar.
Also present were Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation (TLJCF) board members Datuk Ismail Karim and Datuk Dr Mohd Khairi Yakub, Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and State Health Director Dr Selahuddeen Abd Aziz.
At the event, Raja Zarith Sofea, who is TLJCF chairman, also visited the centre's daycare clinic, signed the visitor's book and presented donations totalling over RM46,000 to 10 cancer patients.
Meanwhile, Selahuddeen, in his speech at the event, said the SFSC oncology services had recorded 1,079 cancer patients between 2011 and last year.
Between 2012 and last year, the number of cancer patients who had undergone chemotherapy treatment at the hospital stood at 649, most of whom were from Muar, Segamar and Tangkak, he said.
