The Association of Malaysian Medical Industries (AMMI) has issued its appreciation and commends the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) for continuously engaging with the medical device industry during Movement Control Order (MCO) since its imposition on 18 March 2020.
Christophe Marque, Chairman of AMMI said in a statement, “We deeply appreciate the support of these agencies and the Government of Malaysia to allow our members’ operations to continue without disruption via exemption from the Movement Control Order, thus ensuring an uninterrupted supply of these essentials.”
He added, “Represented by some of the world’s leading brand names in medical device and medical-related industries located in Malaysia, the medical devices and consumables produced by our members are essential to ensure safe and smooth operations for all front liners in healthcare facilities, not only in Malaysia but also in neighbouring countries and around the world in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.”
AMMI also said it is in full support of the actions necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of the rakyat during this outbreak of Covid-19.
“Special mention must be made of all the healthcare front liners across the country, particularly the Ministry of Health, for their efforts in containing this epidemic.”
Marque also said that AMMI believes that with the strong collaboration between the government and private sector, the country will be able to persevere through this crisis even with the extension of the MCO to 14 April.
He concluded, “Together, we will weather through this.”
