The spike in Covid-19 cases continued for a second day today, with the health ministry confirming 187 new cases, bringing the total to 7,604.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 62 new recoveries, bringing the total to 6,041.
e said there were no new deaths, with the total remaining at 115.
Of the 187 new cases, 10 were imported cases involving seven Malaysians and three PR holders.
The remaining 177 cases were local transmissions, including 173 involving foreigners.
Of these 173, 155 were detected at the Bukit Jalil Immigration depot and 13 from the security guard cluster in Cheras.
Yesterday, 159 foreigners tested positive for Covid-19, including 112 at Immigration depots.
At his daily press conference here today, Noor Hisham said 1,448 patients were still receiving treatment, with eight in the intensive care unit and five in need of respiratory assistance.
