The health ministry has reported a record high 45 Covid-19 deaths and 4,446 cases in the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,784 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 429,103.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 474,556.
There are 43,506 active cases, with 522 patients being treated in intensive care and 273 requiring respiratory assistance.
One foreigner was among the 45 who died. They were aged between 36 and 90. All but four had existing medical conditions.
The highest number of deaths recorded in a day before this was 44 deaths on May 15. The total number of fatalities now stands at 1,947.
There were 4,443 local infections today, comprising 4,230 Malaysians and 213 foreigners, as well as three imported cases.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases again with 1,650. This was followed by Sarawak (433), Johor (391), Kelantan (343), Sarawak (297), Negeri Sembilan (243), Kedah (236), Perak (203), Terengganu (201), Penang (159), Pahang (139), Melaka (80), Sabah (60) and Putrajaya (11). - FMT
