The health ministry has reported 8,743 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 14,422 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,184,711.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 2,332,221.
There were 770 patients in intensive care, 714 of whom were confirmed Covid-19 positive and 56 suspected of being infected.
Meanwhile, 419 patients require respiratory assistance, with 304 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 115 suspected of being positive.
There were 8,729 local infections today, comprising 8,258 Malaysians and 471 foreigners, as well as 14 imported cases.
Noor Hisham said of the new infections, only 1.4% were Category 3, 4 and 5 cases.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.86, with Putrajaya having the highest R-nought level with 1.11.
Perlis and Negeri Sembilan are the only other states with an R-nought level higher than 1.00 today, at 1.08 and 1.03 respectively. - FMT
