Paramedics to be stationed at Tg Kling shelter home

PUTRAJAYA – A team of paramedics from the Public Service Department (PSD) are to be stationed at the Shelter Home in Tanjung Kling, Malacca, which houses victims of human trafficking, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Lee Chee Leong said Friday.

He said the decision to do so was made at a meeting of the Special Committee to Enhance the Management of Immigration Depots as well as a meeting of the ministry’s senior management Friday.

“The paramedics can provide basic medical services and, by doing so, can upgrade the service provided by the ministry to the inmates of the shelter home,” he said in a statement.

Lee said that beginning Sunday, 75 victims of human trafficking would be transferred from the KL International Airport Immigration Depot to the shelter home.

The victims comprise nationals from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Afghanistan and India, he said.
