RM2.4 Mn for programme to rehabilitate under-nourished children

TEMERLOH – The government has set aside RM2.4 million this year for its programme to rehabilitate under-nourished children, said Deputy Minister of Health Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin.

She said this was one of the efforts taken by the government to ensure children five years old and below achieve their optimum growth apart from improving their health level.

“From 2000 until 2009 there were 130,888 cases of under-nourished children in the country.

“Of the total, 53,229 cases were provided with food assistance and 24.3 per cent of the children were successfully rehabilitated,” said Rosnah in her speech at a food-aid presentation progamme for Orang Asli residents in Kampung Penderas, Kuala Krau near here Monday.
