LZS distributes RM1.8 million to 17 hospitals to help asnaf

The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) today distributed over RM1.8 million to its patient welfare funds at 17 hospitals around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to help the asnaf (tithe recipients) who are in need of medical assistance.

The contribution was handed over by LZS deputy chairman Datuk Dr Aziuddin Ahmad to deputy director-general of Health (Medicine) Datuk Dr Rohaizat Yon here today.

Also present was LZS chief executive officer Saipolyazan M. Yusop.

The hospitals involved are the Kuala Lumpur Hospital which received RM300,000; Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (RM200,000 each); Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital and National Heart Institute Foundation (RM150,000 each); Selayang, Sungai Buloh, Ampang, Serdang and Kajang hospitals (RM100,000 each).

In his speech earlier, Saipolyazan said the medical assistance was LZS's biggest form of contribution as up to August this year a total of RM81.4 million was allocated to help asnaf with health issues.

“Of the total, RM62.7 million was distributed for dialysis treatment to 2,498 patients, while RM18.7 million for other medical assistance to 3,162 patients.

“Realising the increasing need for medical aids among asnaf, LZS will continue to focus on the matter," he said. - Bernama
