The health ministry has reported 20,988 Covid-19 cases and 249 deaths in the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 23,473 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 1,506,273.
In a tweet, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 1,786,004.
There are 262,540 active cases with 1,417 patients being treated in intensive care and 783 needing respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 249 deaths take the number of fatalities to 17,191.
Selangor again recorded the highest number of cases with 4,073.
This was followed by Sarawak (2,992), Kedah (2,455), Sabah (2,329), Johor (2,145), Penang (1,600), Kelantan (1,247), Perak (990), Terengganu (987), Kuala Lumpur (731), Pahang (599), Melaka (407), Negeri Sembilan (301), Perlis (90), Putrajaya (37) and Labuan (five).
There were 20,987 local infections today, comprising 18,436 Malaysians and 2,551 foreigners, as well as one imported case.
The 249 who died comprised 198 Malaysians and 51 foreigners. All but 184 had existing medical conditions while 80 were brought in dead.
Selangor also reported the highest number of casualties with 61, followed by Johor (40), Penang (39), Sabah (33), Kedah (16), Kuala Lumpur (16), Melaka (13), Perak (nine), Sarawak (eight), Kelantan (six), Negeri Sembilan (four), Terengganu (three), and Perlis (one).
