Health ministry reports 12,735 Covid-19 cases, 17,725 recoveries

There were 924 patients in intensive care, 849 of whom were confirmed Covid-19 positive and 75 suspected of being infected.

Meanwhile, 512 patients required respiratory assistance, with 387 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 125 suspected of being positive.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of cases with 2,487.

This was followed by Selangor (1,940), Johor (1,241), Kelantan (1,232), Kedah (1,033), Sabah (993), Perak (913), Penang (763), Terengganu (726), Pahang (697), Kuala Lumpur (258), Melaka (194), Negeri Sembilan (132), Perlis (97), Putrajaya (28), and Labuan (1).

There were 12,718 local infections today – involving 11,842 Malaysians and 876 foreigners – and 17 imported cases.

Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 1.7% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.

The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.89, with Melaka and Putrajaya having the highest R-nought level of 1.01.

All other states recorded R-noughts of less than 1.0 while Labuan had an R-nought of zero.
