COVID-19

A total of 226 pupils of three boarding secondary schools in Melaka have come down with Covid-19 clusters but the schools are operating normally, state health director Dr Rusdi Abd Rahman said.

The cases are in Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi (SBPI) Selandar, with 64 cases; the Mara Junior Science College Tun Ghaffar Baba (72 cases); and Sekolah Menengah Teknik Melaka (90 cases).

“All students have been sent home to undergo quarantine, to ensure the situation is more controlled,” he told reporters today.

He said the cases were detected after a student, experiencing some symptoms, took a screening test. Tests were extended to other students as more and more of them tested positive for the infection.

The situation in all the schools are under control, he said.

He advised the public, especially those returning to their hometowns for Hari Raya Aidilfitri to mind their health and take preventative measures such as wearing face masks in crowded areas. – FMT
