The number of new Covid-19 cases dropped by 21.9% last week to 2,497 from the 3,231 recorded the week before, says health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In his update for the week ending Jan 14, Noor Hisham said the average number of active cases during the week decreased by 3.3% to 10,901, from 11,278 previously.
“Recoveries dropped by 13% from 3,781 cases to 3,288,” he said in a statement.
The number of deaths rose by 61.9% to 34 compared with 21 the week before, bringing the cumulative number of fatalities to 36,908.
Noor Hisham said 5,032,433 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the country since January 2020. – FMT
